Madrid, November 15th, 2021- Spanish cryptocurrency company Bit2Me announced the launch of the Bit2Me Card, a Mastercard debit card that will allow payments to be made in both cryptocurrencies and euros in all global establishments that accept Mastercard. Bit2Me will convert cryptocurrencies into fiat money, which can be spent at any Mastercard-accepting terminal worldwide.

Users with the Bit2Me Card will be able to pay for their goods and services using any of the 68 cryptocurrencies that the Spanish company offers on its virtual currency platform. By the end of next year the aim would be to expand the number of virtual currencies to 200, demonstrating the potential of both the platform itself and the new Mastercard debit card.

All Bit2Me users in the European Union – not just those in Spain - will be able to use the new card, which is scheduled for launch later this year. There are ambitions to expand the number of users in other countries further down the line.

Bit2Me will offer consumers freedom of choice at the checkout, as well as meeting a growing demand from users who want to make payments with cryptocurrencies with reliable guarantees. The Bit2Me Card has been developed with rigorous quality and security standards to ensure a consistent customer experience.

Paloma Real, CEO of Mastercard Spain, said: "It is a fact that every day more and more people acquire and use cryptocurrencies in their purchases. With the launch of this new card, we are responding to this growing demand and offering consumers a simple and secure way to pay whenever and wherever they want with cryptocurrencies. We are delighted to be working hand in hand with Bit2me to continue innovating and creating solutions in the world of payments, and we are confident that this product will be well received both in Spain and in Europe."

Baldomero Falcones, who recently joined the Bit2Me team as Senior Advisor, played a key role in the development of the card. The former Chairman of Mastercard, who was also Chairman of FCC and Chief Operating Officer at Banco Santander, said: "Innovation is the engine of growth for companies, investors and countries, and Bit2Me demonstrates once again that this is in its DNA.”
