Jorge Arbesu-Cardona currently serves as Executive Vice President, Market Development, Europe.
He was previously Chief of Staff to the CEO and Strategy Execution at Mastercard. Jorge has also led Global Partnerships for the Cyber & Intelligence unit (C&I) and led the regional Latin America C&I business before that. He joined Mastercard as a Country Manager for Panama, Nicaragua and El Salvador in 2014.
Prior to joining Mastercard, Jorge worked for Citibank in roles including Risk Management, Strategy, and Decision Management (Analytics). In his last role at Citi he served as a VP of Consumer Sales.
Born in Panama, Jorge has a bachelor’s in finance from Universidad Latina, an MBA from Florida International University, and a MSc in Management of Technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During his time at MIT his research focused on India’s Digital Payments evolution and its applicability to other emerging markets.
Jorge enjoys endurance sports including triathlon, cycling, running, and long-distance trail running. He loves investing time with his kids, Santiago and Jack and his wife, Nicole. Since moving to New York, they have become big fans of the New York Mets.
