Merchant participation process

Merchants have the ability, at any time, to update their participation status in the Mastercard Installments Program by informing their acquirer.

Step one

Merchant notifies their acquirer of their decision to update their participation status in the Mastercard Installments Program.

Acquirer submits Mastercard Installments Program Merchant Participation Form online to Mastercard.

Step three

The Mastercard network will decline or approve transactions based on merchant participation status and the product codes associated with the program and will provide information to participating lenders in the respective regions of merchants’ participation status, except for Australia.

At the time of receipt of the merchant’s participation request, the acquirer must also populate the MAID corresponding to that request into Data Element (DE) 48 (Additional Data — Private Use), subelement 32 (Mastercard-assigned ID) of the authorization request in order for Mastercard to process authorization attempts at the merchant accordingly, except for Australia.
