Paul Monnington is Division President, Australasia at Mastercard.  

In this role, he is responsible for Mastercard’s business across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, leading a team of payments professionals to deliver the company’s mission to use technology and expertise to make payments safer, simpler and smarter.  

He oversees divisional strategy, growth and engagement with key stakeholders across the ecosystem, including partners, governments and regulators. 

An experienced executive, Paul has worked across the financial services sector for more than 25 years. His career has spanned retail, banking, accountancy, operations, strategy and technology consulting, before specialising in payments and digital transformation. 

Paul brings extensive experience in fintech innovation and business transformation, and is known for building high-performing teams, modernising platforms and operating models, and delivering customer-centric innovation at scale. 

Before joining Mastercard in January 2026, Paul led Wpay, the payments business of Woolworths Group, and held senior roles at Woolworths Group and National Australia Bank, including across financial services, payments and digital.
