Ukrainian Railways and Mastercard's Mobile App Wins at the Transport Ticketing Awards in London
March 20, 2026Kyiv, March 20, 2026 — Ukrainian Railways and Mastercard have won the Digital Innovation category at the international Transport Ticketing Awards for digitalizing Ukraine’s railway passenger services. The awards ceremony took place in London as part of the annual Transport Ticketing Global conference, uniting transport industry leaders, technology innovators, and regulators from across the world.
"Today, 80% of railway tickets in Ukraine are sold through digital channels, compared to 68% before the full-scale war. This reflects a major transformation that Ukrainian Railways has undergone over these years to make ticket purchasing more convenient, faster, and accessible to millions of passengers. We are grateful to Mastercard for a trusted partnership, technological expertise, and support in developing digital services that are now an essential part of rail travel,” said Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of the Board of Ukrainian Railways.
The Digital Innovation category recognizes the most innovative use of digital technology in ticketing and fare collection.

Ukrainian Railways’ mobile app, developed together with Mastercard and launched during the full-scale war in 2022, has become a key element in the digitalization of railway services. Today the app has over 6 million users and more than 55 million tickets purchased. It offers unique features, including automatic ticket booking, a loyalty program with exclusive partner offers, real-time train tracking notifications, and more.
The mobile app has also been adapted for people with visual impairments, incorporating voice control, text labels for all buttons and switches, voice-over for dynamic content, and enhanced contrast to make the experience more accessible.
In 2024, Ukrainian Railways, supported by Mastercard, also launched an updated website for ticket purchases.
