Mastercard curates priceless moments for its partners as it felicitates the legendary 1983 World Cup squad

As India prepares for the ICC 2023 Men’s One Day International (ODI) Cricket World Cup, Mastercard hosted an unforgettable dinner recently that brought together the iconic Indian Cricket team of the 1983 World Cup along with the company’s esteemed partners. This exclusive event held at Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai was a priceless experience filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and stories of leadership. 

Along with Kapil Dev, the event was attended by legendary cricketers including Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavasakar, Kirti Azad, Roger Binny, Syed Kirmani, Madan Lal, Sandeep Patil, Balvinder Singh Sandhu, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Sunil Valson, Dilip Vengsarkar, P R Man Singh, and Renu Sharma, wife of late Yashpal Sharma.

The evening brought alive the precious memories from the game and that moment, when, 40 years ago, the annals of cricketing history changed forever, as a team of underdogs, fought against incredible odds to secure the country’s first ever world cup victory. In addition to a walk down memory lane, the cricketing maestros shared thoughts and perspectives around what it takes to build and embody a leadership mindset.

The event reiterated Mastercard’s dedication towards the sport in India, building on the company’s long-standing collaboration with Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its brand ambassador and the global partnership with ICC for the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 hosted in India.
