Review temperature

Help people feel comfortable by managing temperature, providing control where possible, and sharing what to expect in advance.

Why this matters

People feel comfortable at different temperatures. Customers who can prepare or adjust the temperature feel more relaxed. This could mean giving temperature controls to customers. If your space is usually warm or cold, let them know in advance. Providing this information will help them to adjust by dressing comfortably.

What best practice looks like:

  • Assess and monitor temperature
  • Provide adjustable temperature controls when you can
  • List the usual temperature on your website
  • Encourage customers to bring layers
  • Keep heating and cooling systems working well
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes
  • Reduce draughts
  • Offer fans or blankets if needed

Example:

A cinema notes on its website “Our cinemas tend to be cool (18–20°C). You're welcome to bring a cardigan or request a blanket.”
