Michael H. Lashlee
Chief Security Officer

     

Michael Lashlee is the chief security officer for Mastercard, leading a global team that ensures the safety and security of the company's network and internal and external products and services.  He is responsible for corporate security, security threat and response management, security architecture and engineering, cryptographic key management, business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency management. Michael is a member of the company’s Management Committee.

Michael joined Mastercard in 2016 after a 25-year career with the U.S. Secret Service. He was a special agent and supervisor on the protective details for former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama and was the supervisor for the Counter Assault Team, providing dynamic tactical support for the president. His last two postings were as special agent in charge of the Forensic Services Division and the Technical Security Division, with responsibility for all technical protective countermeasures at the White House and other Secret Service protected facilities.

Michael has worked and traveled in more than 100 countries and was posted as the attaché to the U.S. Embassy in Paris, overseeing Secret Service protective operations, financial fraud and cybercrimes investigations in Western Europe, Russia and parts of Africa. He has more than 28 years of federal investigative and law enforcement experience and is certified under the Senior Executive Service program by the Office of Personnel Management for the Department of Homeland Security.

Michael sits on the advisory board of the European Cyber Crime and Fraud Investigators, the board of directors for the Global Cyber Alliance and is past chair of the American Transaction Processors Coalition Cyber Council.

He holds a graduate certificate in leadership from the Key Executive Leadership program at American University in Washington, D.C. and a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University. Michael formerly served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve as a non-commissioned Officer.
