Michael Fraccaro

Michael Fraccaro is a progressive human resources leader with 30-plus years leading global companies through organizational and cultural transformation to drive impactful business outcomes. 

Michael currently serves as the chief people officer for Mastercard, where he successfully leads a global HR team in developing and implementing innovative approaches to human capital management to enable the growth and success of the business. Michael is also a member of the Management Committee and the Executive Leadership Team. 

Michael has played a pivotal role in driving the culture and experience for Mastercard employees, navigating the changing nature of work and the workplace while defining and embedding the behaviors that will shape the future of Mastercard’s workforce. His team is instrumental in enabling organizational agility, building leadership capability, and fostering a culture where the best people choose to be, as reflected in consistently high Glassdoor ratings. 

Michael is a passionate advocate for advancing diversity, equity and inclusion across the company, and during his tenure as CPO the company regularly achieves industry recognition such as DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity, Fast Company – Best Workplace for Innovators, and Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index. He also regularly contributes his thought leadership to industry articles and podcasts on topics such as the future of work, leadership and succession, people analytics and insights, and cultural transformation. 

From 2012 until assuming his current role, Michael served as executive vice president of HR  for Mastercard’s Global Products and Solutions business. In this role, he supported the company’s growth in key markets and expansion into new business lines. He was also responsible for leading the global HR integration of new acquisitions and joint ventures. 

Prior to joining Mastercard, Michael was a core member of the HR leadership team at HSBC Group for nearly 12 years, based in Hong Kong. Earlier in his career, he held senior HR positions in banking and financial services in Australia and the Middle East, working extensively across different cultures. 

Michael holds a Master of Applied Science, Communication Management, from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Bachelor of Education from the Australian Catholic University. He also has accreditation in change management from the Australian Graduate School of Management and attended leadership programs at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and INSEAD. 

Michael serves on the SHRM Executive Advisory Council, the Board of the HR Policy Association, 50:50 Women on Boards, and is active on the NY Jobs CEO Council and HR50. He is also the Board Chair of the Young People’s Chorus of New York.
