Adding your card to Google Pay takes just a few minutes. First, download the app from Google Play or check to see if it's already installed on your phone. Then, open the app and follow the instructions. Google Pay works on Android devices running KitKat 4.4 or higher.

Tap & go™ on buses and trains with your phone

Say goodbye to empty fare cards when you tap and go with Mastercard on Google Pay. To pay on public transport, simply unlock your phone - no need to open the app*, then hold the back of your phone to the fare reader upon entry and exit. The blue tick appears and you are on your way!

*Your default Mastercard will be charged.

Use Google Pay to check out even faster across your favourite apps and sites. Once you’ve added a card, you won’t need to enter your payment info again. Just choose Google Pay at checkout, confirm your purchase and you’re all set.

When you use your phone to pay in shops, Google Pay doesn't send your actual Mastercard or Mastercard debit number with your payment. Instead, a virtual account number is used to represent your account information to help keep your card details safe.
