Marriott Bonvoy, Mastercard and Currensea Unveil Two New Debit Cards for UK Travellers

Marriott Bonvoy’s two debit cards with Currensea offer automatic Silver or Gold status, Elite Night Credits, and the ability to earn points on everyday spending, plus a limited-time welcome bonus of up to 30,000 Marriott Bonvoy points

Marriott Bonvoy®, Marriott International’s award-winning travel platform, together with Currensea, the market-leading payments technology platform for providing co-branded debit cards, and Mastercard, announces the launch of two new debit cards to the UK. The multi-bank debit cards include the Marriott Bonvoy Debit Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Premium Debit Card. A first for Marriott Bonvoy, this milestone offering expands on the platform’s current co-brand credit card portfolio, now totalling 32 cards across 11 countries, designed to accelerate point earnings for both travel and everyday purchases.

The Marriott Bonvoy Debit Cards allow cardholders in the UK to enjoy automatic Silver or Gold status and associated benefits including complimentary stays and room upgrades at participating hotels across Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of over 30 brands including W Hotels, JW Marriott, Westin, Le Méridien, Sheraton, and Moxy Hotels. Cardholders will also earn loyalty points on all their day-to-day spending, while benefiting from real-time exchange rates with foreign exchange fees as low as 0.5% when spending overseas – among the very best rates available to travellers from the UK. The cards work directly with all major UK banks, so cardholders have no need to open a new bank account, keep a separate card topped up, or change their spending behaviour to benefit.

Cardholders will also earn Elite Night Credits through spending, enabling travellers to accelerate their way to the next Marriott Bonvoy elite status level, accessing even more enhanced benefits at participating hotels within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. Members who sign up to one of the new debit cards and are also Marriott Bonvoy American Express Credit Card holders will be able to stack Elite Night Credits generated from both cards and can generate up to 35 Elite Night Credits per year.

Andrew Watson, Chief Commercial Officer, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International, said: “The launch of two new Marriott Bonvoy debit cards represents a significant step forward in our commitment to offering members more rewarding ways to earn points through everyday spending—both at home and abroad. This co-brand partnership with Currensea not only expands our reach to new members but also enhances the travel experience by providing a faster path to Marriott Bonvoy elite status and unlocking even more exclusive benefits.”

Cardholders can select their new Marriott Bonvoy debit card from two options, the Marriott Bonvoy Debit Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Premium Debit Card. The Marriott Bonvoy Debit Card has an annual fee of £55 and grants cardholders Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status, as well as a bonus of 10 Elite Night Credits per annum. New cardholders also will receive 5,000 points as a welcome bonus once £1,000 has been spent abroad in the first year. With the Marriott Bonvoy Debit Card, every £1 spent in the UK and European Currencies* will earn one Marriott Bonvoy point, while every £1 spent outside the UK and Europe will earn two points. Points earned are doubled when spending at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties, so two points for every £1 in the UK and four points per £1 abroad.

The Marriott Bonvoy Premium Debit Card grants cardholders Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status for an annual fee of £175. In addition, cardholders will receive a 15,000-point welcome bonus upon spending £3,000 overseas in the first year, as well as receiving 15 Elite Night Credits. One additional Elite Night Credit can be earned for every £4,000 spent, up to five credits per annum. On top of these benefits, cardholders who spend over £5,000 abroad will receive, upon renewal, a free night worth up to 25,000 points, or up to 50,000 points for cardholders who spend over £9,500, to be redeemed on a stay at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties. Marriott Bonvoy Premium Debit Card holders will earn 1.5 Marriott Bonvoy points per £1 spent within the UK and European Currencies*, and three points per £1 for spending outside the UK and Europe. Spending on stays or experiences with Marriott Bonvoy provides cardholders with four points per £1 in the UK and six points per £1 abroad.

James Lynn, Co-Founder of Currensea, said: “These all-new debit cards unlock access to Marriott Bonvoy’s prestigious Silver and Gold Elite status so customers can benefit from world-class rewards. This simple solution makes it easier than ever for Marriott Bonvoy members to collect points, while also enjoying access to the excellent foreign exchange rates when spending abroad - all without the hassle of opening a new bank account. Our co-brand partnership with Marriott Bonvoy has created a unique proposition that drives customer loyalty, offers enhanced value, and supports commercial growth.”

George Simon, EVP Market Development, Mastercard Europe, said: “We’re proud to launch the Marriott Bonvoy Debit Card in the UK through a unique collaboration with Marriott and Currensea. Bringing together one of the world’s most iconic hospitality brands and one of the UK’s most innovative fintech companies shows what’s possible when industry leaders join forces. This partnership is about creating smarter, more rewarding experiences for customers - every day.”

Customers who sign up to one of the new debit cards between now and 4th February 2026 will receive double the points welcome bonus: 10,000 points earned for new Marriott Bonvoy Debit Cardholders and 30,000 points for new Marriott Bonvoy Premium Debit Cardholders. This additional bonus is dependent on the minimum spend per card in the first 12 months of membership (£1,000 and £3,000, respectively). To take advantage of this offer, accounts must be activated prior to 4th February 2026 at 11:59pm GMT.
