Mastercard’s Chief Legal and Global Affairs Officer, Rob Beard, will be speaking on the Universal DPI Safeguards: From Principles to Action panel as part of the Digital Public Infrastructure for People and Planet organized the 50-in-5 initiative.

Rob Beard will speak to the future of #DPI and the role of the private sector in building digital ecosystems that safe, secure, interoperable and maintain user choice.

The Global Digital Compact: Reflecting on the role of the State in the Digital Economy

This Mastercard-United States Council for International Business (USCIB) roundtable will explore the role of the state in the digital economy drawing on business perspectives from expert speakers and participants from across industry, at a time when, after months of negotiations, the United Nations is preparing to finalize the Global Digital Compact (GDC) — a significant document in multilateral tech diplomacy.

USCIB CEO Whitney Baird will moderate the discussion, which will also feature opening remarks by Mastercard Chief Administrative Officer Tim Murphy.

The panel brings together tech diplomacy leaders from key regions of the world to debate the opportunities and challenges facing global tech policymaking at a time of rapid technology change, including, His Excellency President Ivan Duque, former president of Colombia, His Excellency Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (Nigeria), Her Excellency Nele Leosk, Ambassador-at-Large for Digital Affairs (Estonia) and Tim Murphy, Chief Administrative Officer (Mastercard). 2024 Transatlantic Forum on GeoEconomics

Mastercard Vice Chairman Amb. Jon Huntsman will be a featured Spotlight Speaker at the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Forum on Geoeconomics — a flagship gathering of policymakers, industry executives, and thought leaders from across the United State and Europe.

Amb. Huntsman will share his perspectives on the geopolitics of technology, including emerging trends in Digital Public Infrastructure and data governance, in a fireside chat moderated by Atlantic Council Senior Director Josh Lipsky.
