Senior Vice President, Global Open Banking & Open Finance, Industry & Policy Engagement

Louise’s Open Banking journey, over the last 14 or so years, encompasses the full spectrum: from running a business that was under-served by the banks and needed Open Banking; to founding the FinTech that crystalized and served that access-to-finance need.

From selling her FinTech to her institutional investor and joining him in his VC firm to grow the FinTech portfolio in the UK, Europe, Africa and the US that gave her the facts on the positive impact Open Banking would have on consumers, businesses, and the economies and societies they comprise; to working with legislators and regulators to help bring forth the Open Banking Remedy in the UK and PSD2 in Europe, and beyond. From working with incumbents like Pay.UK, Bottomline and Publicis.Sapient to create strategies to power and services powered by Open Banking; to advising start-ups and scale-ups like Funding Options to successfully leverage it. From meeting Ajay Banga when she presented to one of his advisory boards on the topic years ago and realising that he absolutely got it! to joining Mastercard, and focusing on positively influencing the policy environment around the world, outside of North America, such that it is conducive to the delivery, development and growth of Mastercard’s Open Financial Data Network, and the use of this network to further Mastercard’s Financial Inclusion mission.

Louise holds a Master’s in psychology and management from St Andrews University and a Ph.D. in semiotics and corporate identity from Strathclyde Business School.
