1. What is Mastercard Local?

Mastercard Local offers a range of exclusive statement credit offers to eligible Mastercard credit and debit card cardholders.  Simply pay with an eligible Mastercard at a participating local merchant and receive a 2% statement credit.

2. Which cards are eligible to Mastercard Local and how do I enroll?

Individual Mastercard cardholders do not need to enroll or register with the program as your participating bank or credit union will handle that process. For a list of participating bank or credit union, see mastercard.com/local or contact the bank or credit union that issued your card to see if your card is eligible.

Once your bank or credit union has determined that your card is eligible for enrollment, all qualifying statement credits will be processed automatically.

3. What is a "qualifying transaction" or an "eligible purchase"?

To make a qualifying transaction, you must make a purchase at an enrolled merchant using your eligible Mastercard credit or debit card.  Your card must be in good standing at the time of purchase to be eligible to receive the statement credit. For each eligible transaction, you will receive a 2% statement credit per transaction.

Some offers may be subject to certain terms & conditions and may change at any time without notice to you. The offer terms are listed on the Mastercard Local website (mastercard.com/local). Here you can also find a full list of participating merchants by selecting your bank or credit union on the home page.

Mastercard will not be liable for any loss or damage incurred as a result of any interaction between you and a merchant with respect to this promotion. Except as set forth herein, all matters, including but not limited to delivery of goods and services, returns, and warranties are solely and strictly between you and the applicable merchants. You acknowledge that Mastercard does not endorse or warrant the merchants that are accessible through the Mastercard site nor the offers that they provide.

Purchases submitted by you, an enrolled cardholder, or the merchant through third-party payment accounts, mobile or wireless card readers, online or mobile digital wallets, or similar technology may not qualify if the technology is not set up to process the purchase in a way that specifically identifies the enrolled merchant. Other restrictions may apply based on your bank or credit union's individual terms & conditions.

4. Where and for how long is this promotion available?

This promotion is available to US cardholders with credit or debit cards issued by select local banks or credit unions.

The 2% statement credit is scheduled to run for a period of 6 months from the time of launch, but without notice to you, maybe terminated at any time, or extended indefinitely at Mastercard’s sole discretion.  Offer quantities may be limited.

Additional restrictions may apply without notice to you in accordance with Mastercard’s policies.

5. Can I earn statement credit from online purchases with Mastercard Local?

For all offers that are specified as “spend in-store,” you need to make a purchase at the participating merchant's location to be eligible for the offer. However, for offers that include online purchases, you can qualify for the offer when you make an online purchase using an eligible Mastercard at a participating merchant’s website if the transaction meets all applicable advertised terms and conditions.

6. How is the statement credit processed? Do I need to do anything to make sure it is processed?

Statement credit is processed automatically if you (eligible cardholder) have followed the terms and conditions of the offer. Each statement credit will include an identifier such as "MALocal" in the description on your card statement.

Your accounts must be open and in good standing at the time of purchase to receive the statement credit. The statement credit will be awarded to the primary account holder (as determined by the Mastercard account records) on the account accessed by the eligible Mastercard used to make the qualifying purchase.

The statement credit cannot be returned or exchanged for cash and is nontransferable. Missing statement credits or customer service issues must be communicated to the bank or credit union through which the card has been issued. This communication must happen within 30 days of the transaction date. Mastercard nor participating banks and credit unions are responsible for other offers, decisions and/or actions of individual merchants.

7. What happens if I cancel a purchase or want a refund?

You can cancel purchases and get a refund in the usual way that you would directly with the merchant, subject to the merchant’s Terms & Conditions. However, you will not earn a statement credit for any canceled or refunded purchases. If you cancel a purchase after the statement credit has been issued to your enrolled Mastercard account, we reserve the right to reverse such statement credit from your account.

8. Is my statement credit for offers immediately credited to my Mastercard account?

When you make an eligible purchase from a participating merchant, the statement credit will be posted to your enrolled eligible card within 72 hours. However, it may take some time for the value of the award to be credited to your account with the exact timeframe being dependent on your bank or credit union.

9. Is there a limit on the number of purchases I can make with each participating merchant or the amount of statement credit I can receive?

There are no limits to the number of purchases you can make at an individual merchant, but some may require that the transaction size falls within a minimum and maximum spend amount.

10. What should I do if I don’t want to be part of this program?

If you are not interested in being part of this program please contact your bank or credit union and they will take action to remove your card from the program. When removed, you will no longer receive the 2% statement credit on eligible transactions.
