The Payment Card Industry Security Standards

The PCI Security Standards are technical and operational requirements set forth by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) to protect cardholder data. The standards apply to all organizations that store, process or transmiot cardholder data. While the PCI SSC is responsible for the evolution of the standards, MasterCard and the other founding payment brands enforce PCI compliance.
