December  21 , 2020: As part of their commitment to achieving a large-scale positive social footprint in Jordan, MasterCard and Nawa’s online donation platform have announced that they have reached 600,000 beneficiaries over the past two years.

"Nawa" is one of the initiatives of the Crown Prince Foundation, which was mainly funded by MasterCard, where MasterCard is working to enable payment technology in the platform through partner banks. Since its inception in 2018, the platform has raised more than 3.3 million Jordanian dinars (US$4.6 million) in donations, enabling it to participate in more than 100 projects that have had a direct impact on upgrading local communities.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, the platform has played an essential role in supporting relief efforts by facilitating the receipt of donations from individuals and businesses. These donations resulted in food baskets being provided to 850,000 families of informal workers, who were affected by the restrictions and were unable to support their families. The Nawa platform also provided support for 3,500 students to facilitate their transition to distance learning by providing tablets and internet connectivity to connect them to government digital learning platforms.
