Question What is MasterCard® MoneySend™?
Answer MasterCard offers a program that lets cardholders transfer money from one MasterCard® or Maestro® card to another via ATMs, and can be expanded to include the Internet, bank branches and mobile phones. It’s fast, convenient, reliable and secure. The MasterCard MoneySend service is made available to cardholders by the participating bank or organization that issues their MasterCard or Maestro card.

Question What are the benefits of using MasterCard MoneySend to transfer money?
Answer There are many advantages to using MasterCard MoneySend. It’s:
  • Fast: When you use MoneySend, funds transferred to a Maestro or MasterCard card could be available in as little as one to two banking days from the date you initiate the transfer.
  • Convenient: With MoneySend, you can send money to friends and family in India from any participating ATM. The money is transferred directly into their account so getting the funds is easy. They just use their MasterCard or Maestro card for a purchase at a retailer where MasterCard or Maestro are accepted or they can get cash at an ATM. Your friends and family are no longer restricted to having to pick up funds from locations that often have limited hours of operations.
  • Reliable: When sending money across India, no one wants to worry about whether or not it will arrive. With MoneySend, you will receive instant confirmation and record that your transfer has been successfully processed.

Question How can I transfer money using MoneySend?
Answer The MoneySend service in India can operate in two ways. Check with your bank to determine which MoneySend service(s) it offers.
  • Card to card:
    If you have a MasterCard or Maestro card issued by a participating bank, you can transfer funds from the card directly to anyone within India who also has a MasterCard or Maestro issued by a participating bank.

    The recipient can then access the transferred funds by making a purchase anywhere MasterCard and Maestro cards are accepted, or by withdrawing cash at a participating ATM that accepts MasterCard cards and offers cash in local currency.


  • Bank account-to-card:
    You can transfer funds from any of your authorized accounts held at your participating bank directly to a friend or family member within India who has a MasterCard or Maestro issued by a participating bank.

    The recipient can then access the transferred funds by making a purchase anywhere MasterCard and Maestro cards are accepted, or by withdrawing cash at a participating ATM that accepts MasterCard cards and offers cash in local currency.

Question How are senders and recipients informed of the amount transferred through MoneySend?
Answer The sender is responsible for communicating the amount being transferred to the recipient. Some banks may offer email notification. Contact the participating banks for more details.

Question Who can use MasterCard MoneySend?
Answer Any person who holds a qualifying account at a participating bank and needs to send money can do so directly to another person at a participating bank. Due to Indian government regulations, businesses may not use MasterCard MoneySend services at this time.
