Rugby World Cup 2011 MasterCard Usage Promotion, South Africa
Terms and Conditions

  1. The promoter of this competition is MasterCard International Inc.
  2. Entry to this competition is open to all persons over the age of 18 being resident in South Africa and holding a valid South African bank-issued MasterCard credit card, Debit MasterCard or Maestro card.
  3. This competition is not open to employees of MasterCard, all associated advertising and promotional agencies and their immediate families.
  4. MasterCard International Inc. will not be liable for any applicable taxes arising for this competition.
  5. All applicable taxes relating to the prizes will be borne by the participants.
  6. The competition commences on 3 June 2011 and closes on 12 August 2011 (“Competition Period”).
  7. Entry into the competition is made via SMSing the word MasterCard and your full name to 33767. The cardholder must then transact 10 times during the Competition Period and retain proof through either receipts or bank statements.
  8. Should their name be drawn from the SMS entries, the entry is only valid if proof of ten purchases made using the same MasterCard credit card, Debit MasterCard or Maestro card during the Competition Period can be provided by the entrant for verification.
  9. Your entry into the competition means that you agree and understand that you will stand a chance to win a prize only and that there is no guarantee that you will be receiving any prize
  10. The competition prizes draw will be held in the presence of an auditor on 15 August 2011 and the winner will be notified telephonically (on the mobile number from which they entered the competition) by 20 August 2011.
  11. The first winner drawn will receive a RWC 2011 quarter-final 1 and 3 package for two people, courtesy of MasterCard, to the value of R191,000 which includes:
    1. Two business class return tickets to Wellington, New Zealand (flights will depart from Johannesburg)
    2. Airport transfers and Match transfers in New Zealand
    3. 4 star accommodation (double occupancy) including breakfast daily
    4. Two Category A tickets to both quarter-final 1 and 3 (Match 41 and Match 43)
    5. Some meals (including a pre-match meal prior to quarter-final 1 and 3
    6. A MasterCard gift pack
  12. The second winner drawn will receive a RWC 2011 semi-final 1 and 2, Bronze Final and Final package for two people, courtesy of MasterCard, to the value of R302,000 which includes
    1. Two business class return tickets to Auckland, New Zealand (flights will depart from Johannesburg)
    2. Airport transfers, Match transfers and ground transfers to activities in New Zealand
    3. 4 star accommodation (double occupancy) including breakfast daily
    4. Two Category A tickets to semi-finals 1 and 2 (Match 45 and Match 46)
    5. Two Category A tickets to the Bronze Final (Match 47)
    6. Two Category A tickets to the Final (Match 48)
    7. Some meals (including a pre-match meal prior to semi-final 1 and 2, the Bronze Final and the Final)
    8. Some New Zealand Tourism experiences / activities
    9. A MasterCard gift pack
  13. All Rugby World Cup 2011 tickets are issued subject to RWC 2011 Ticket General Terms and Conditions ("Ticket Conditions") which apply to the possession and use of Tickets. A full copy of the Ticket Conditions is available at http://tickets.rugbyworldcup.com/pdf/RWC2011TicketConditions.pdf.Tickets are non-transferable except as set out in the Ticket Conditions. Tickets cannot be used for commercial or promotional purposes or resold for more than their original sale price. The winner of the Prize will be required to sign to confirm their acceptance of the Ticket Conditions
  14. As mentioned in the above clause, when winners accept any prize involving RWC 2011 Match tickets, they are required to sign a form stating that they agree to the RWC 2011 Ticket General Terms and Conditions (template form will be provided by MasterCard)
  15. The winners must arrange their holiday package directly with MasterCard’s agency, Octagon, who will work with the required experience delivery agencies in New Zealand to manage your experience.
  16. The winners must have a valid passport which is valid for at least 6 months from their date of return, and meet any entry requirements for obtaining any necessary visas. The RWC 2011 quarter-final package winner must be available to travel on 5 to 12 October 2011 and the RWC 2011 semi-final and Final package winner must be available to travel from 13 to 27 October 2011, failing which they will forfeit the prize and in which event MasterCard reserves the right to re-draw a new winner under the same conditions.
  17. Any costs or expenses incurred in respect of items not specifically included in the prize/s are for the winner’s own account. MasterCard and its associates if applicable, will not be responsible for any other expenses which the winner/s may incur as a result of their acceptance and/ or use of a prize, whether foreseen or not. Expenses that are not included in the prize include, but are not limited to, personal spending money, some meals (including lunches every day and some dinners), hotel incidentals (including mini bar expenses), travel insurance, the costs of the winners getting to and from the airport in Johannesburg for their flights and any other personal expenses
  18. The prize may be withdrawn at any time should MasterCard or any of MasterCard’s event management staff onsite believe that the winner is behaving in an inappropriate or dangerous way.
  19. No prizes can be converted to cash.
  20. If required to do so, because of legislative or regulatory reasons, this promotional competition may be terminated immediately and without notice and any prize may be substituted for one of similar value at the promoters' sole discretion. In the event of such termination, all participants agree to waive any rights they have as a result of the termination and acknowledge they will have no recourse against the promoters, its agents, contractors and/or sponsors as a result.
  21. In the event of any dispute, the decision of MasterCard International Inc. is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  22. All participants by entering this competition agree to be bound by the competition rules.
  23. The prize winners by accepting the prize assign all rights to the promoters to publish their names in any promotion, print, point of sale or public relations material for the period of the competition and one month after the final draw has taken place. The prize winners, with their consent, may be required to appear and be identified in or on national and regional media at no fee.
  24. MasterCard and its members, financial institutions, associated agencies and companies and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the winner’s participation in the competition or the receipt or use of any part of the prize or suffered during the course of the prize winning travel except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
