1. The promoters of this competition are Pick n Pay, MasterCard International Inc and Nedbank Ltd hereafter known as the ‘promoters’.
2. This competition runs from 14 April 2008 and closes on 31 May 2008. (the “Promotion period “)
3. Entry to this competition is open to all persons holding a valid South African issued MasterCard card or Maestro card whose account is in good standing with the card-issuing bank.
4. This competition is not open to employees of the promoters, related companies, all associated advertising and promotional agencies and their families.
5. Prizes may only be claimed in South Africa.
6. The main prize in the competition is R1000 000,00 (One million Rand) which will be paid out to 1000 winners in the form of gift cards / vouchers to the amount of R1000.00 each. There is no cash alternative. All prizes will be deemed inclusive of all taxes including, but not limited to, sales, excise, value added and income taxes. The responsibility for deducting tax in respect of each prize is that of the winning cardholder receiving such prize. The sole obligation to report and remit any taxes arising in relation to each prize will be that of the winning cardholder receiving such prize.
7. The draw for the prizes will be held at Nedbank Ltd every three weeks from commencement of the campaign and winners names will be posted on the Pick n Pay website, the Nedbank website, in-store plasmas screens and winners will also be contacted telephonically where possible, to arrange delivery of prizes.
8. The promoters, their associated companies, their agents, contractors and sponsors assume no liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss, injury or damage arising from any entrant’s participation in the competition nor for the prize winners in their fulfilment of the prize howsoever arising.
9. If required to do so, because of legislative or regulatory reasons, the promotional competition may be terminated immediately and without notice. In the event of such termination, all participants agree to waive any rights they have as a result of the termination and acknowledge they will have no recourse against the promoters, their agents, contractors and/or sponsors as a result.
10. The Promoters will not be liable to perform any of its obligations in respect of this competition if it is unable to do so as a result of circumstances beyond its control and will not be liable to compensate the cardholder in such circumstances.
11. The Promoters may change these terms and conditions, the Promotion and/or a Draw at any time. All such changes will be binding and will take effect immediately upon notification on the promoters’ website. Cardholders participating in the promotion will be bound by all such changes.
12. In the event of any dispute, the decision of MasterCard, Pick n Pay and Nedbank Ltd is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
13. All participants by entering this competition agree to be bound by the competition rules.
14. Prizes are not transferable and any prize not taken up for any reason will be the subject of a separate draw and shall be allocated in terms of this competition to an additional winner/s. The prizes shall not be exchanged for cash amounts.
15. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with another prize of similar commercial value.
16. All participants in the competition must be over 18 years of age and must reside in the Republic of South Africa.
