-
A.
To make a purchase simply tap your Trial mobile phone on a PayPass enabled payment reader at participating retail locations.
How To Tap
Where To Tap - Q. Will Citi customers receive rewards such as ThankYou Points?
- A. If you are in a rewards program through Citi, you will be able to earn rewards with every mobile trial purchase you make using the PayPass functionality of the trial mobile phone.

- A. Trial phone purchases will be displayed on your statement just like any other purchase you make with your card.
Fees & Charges
- Q. Will I be charged carrier fees when I make purchases with my NFC enabled mobile phone?

- A. While personalization is free, you will be charged for the number of kilobytes used to complete the personalization process. See your Cingular data plan for additional details.

Security & Your Mobile Phone
- Q. How safe are contactless payments?
-
A.
Thanks to special security technology, contactless payments are as safe as traditional card payment transactions. Your contactless payment-equipped mobile phone must be extremely close to the terminal to be read (typically one to two inches). Contactless payments also provide more consumer control, since the mobile phone doesn't have to leave your hands to be swiped by a merchant/retailer. U.S.-issued Citi credit or Citibank Debit MasterCard cards/devices with PayPass are protected with Zero Liability* coverage for any fraudulent transactions.
Learn More - Q. Can I protect my phone against other people using it for payment?
-
A.
The PayPass payment application on the phone can be protected by a self-defined passcode/PIN (this is different from your Citi credit one-time personalization PIN). The passcode will be defined the first time you select the "Ask Passcode first" option. If you misplace your passcode the PayPass feature of the phone will no longer work and you will need to return it to Nokia. So please make sure you write down your passcode and keep it in a safe place. To do this you:
- Press the side button of the phone to open the cover.
- Move the phone close to a payment reader.
- The handset will prompt you for a passcode with the message "Enter secure element passcode".
- Enter your passcode and press the soft key "OK" (center button) and the secure element is "activated" for 60 seconds.
- You may also hold the handset at the same position while pressing "Yes", making the second tap unnecessary.
Technical Help
- Q. Who do I call if my payment keeps getting declined at point of sale?
- A. Your trial phone works just the same as your Citi credit MasterCard card with PayPass. If you have exceeded your credit limit your card may be declined. You may want to contact Citi by calling the toll-free number located on the back of your linked card.
- Q. How long will the PayPass payment application stay active?
-
A.
The PayPass application remains active for 60 seconds after initial activation.
There is also another option "set PayPass always on". This means that your phone is automatically set to "Always Active" which allows you to tap and make a purchase without doing anything.
