MasterCard to Share Best Practices and Showcase Latest Technology at MasterCard Asia/Pacific OneSMART and PayPass Conference

Taipei, July 08, 2005 - In conjunction with the Taiwan government's initiatives to spearhead the migration to smart card and contactless technologies, MasterCard today announced that it will be holding the MasterCard Asia/Pacific OneSMART™and PayPass™ Conference in Taipei on 12 and 13 July. At the conference, MasterCard will bring together leading smart card vendors and customer financial institutions to share the latest developments in smart card and contactless technology arena, and share best practices.

The conference will be officiated by Shih Yen-Hsiang, Taiwan's Vice Minister of Economic Affairs, with a key note address given by Yeh Chin-Chuan, Political Deputy Mayor, Taipei City. Other speakers at the event will include:

• Toni Merschen, senior vice president and head of Chip Center of Excellence, MasterCard;• Richard Fletcher, senior vice president and head of Mobile Wireless Center of Excellence, MasterCard;
• Martyn Cooper, vice president, Global Product Management, Mobile Wireless Center of Excellence, MasterCard;
• Tim France-Massey, vice president, Business Development, MAOSCO Ltd, MULTOS Consortium;
• Shuan Ghaidan, vice president and regional head, Advanced Payment Systems, Asia/Pacific, MasterCard

The second MasterCard Asia/Pacific OneSMART™and PayPass
Conference will be held at the Grand Hyatt, Taipei. The first was held in Kuala Lumpur last year.
