This Privacy Notice describes the types of information we collect on www.mastercard.co.uk and www.mastercard.com/uk/ (collectively the “Site”), how we may use that information, and with whom we may share it. The term "personal information" means information about an identifiable individual, including name, address, email address, and other information relating to an individual. This Privacy Notice does not cover information collection and use practices on other MasterCard branded Web sites. Information We Collect:

We may collect personal information on this Site to provide you with the information, product or services you request.

In regards to certain promotions that we make available through this site, this information can consist of your name, the name of the bank that issued your MasterCard card, your contact details and, where applicable, your password. We may also request the first 6 digits of your credit card in order to verify your eligibility and country of residence under the Terms and Conditions for each promotion.

We collect and store some of the information we collect on servers located in the United States. By providing your information to us you agree to such international data transfer and storage. All personal information is collected using a secure socket layer (SSL) to encrypt the data transmitted by your browser.

If you email us comments or questions, we will retain your email address, as well as any other information you provide, but we encourage you to contact the financial institution that issued your MasterCard for customer support.

We provide tools by which you may share publicly information about yourself, content you have created (such as photographs and essays) and your interests. If you choose to share such information and email, we may ask for your name and contact information, as well as for personal comments, videos and photographs, all of which may be posted publicly.

When you visit our Site, your browser automatically may send us certain information, such as a referring Web site, IP (internet protocol) address, and information about your computer and browser. This Site may include electronic image requests (called a "single-pixel gif", “clear-gifs” or "web beacon" request). These web beacons allow us to obtain information such as the IP address of the computer that downloaded the page on which the beacon appears, the URL of the page on which the beacons appears, and the time the page containing the beacon was viewed, all of which may be used measure the effectiveness of our Site and the Program.

In connection with the web beacons we also may use cookies. Cookies are bits of text that are placed on a computer’s hard drive when you visit certain web sites. We use cookies to tell us, for example, whether you have visited the Site before or if you are a new visitor and to help us identify Site features in which you may have the greatest interest.

By our collecting this information we learn how to tailor our Site to our visitors’ needs. While generally we examine such information only in an aggregated format, it is possible to link such information to an individual’s IP address. Also if your email software is capable of receiving html coded emails, if and when we send you emails, we may collect information regarding the delivery of the email, including, whether the email was delivered, whether it was opened, whether it was opened with html capable email software, when it was opened, IP address, and further links on which you may click. This data may be associated with your email address.

How We Use Information We Collect

Personal information collected via the Site, in the course of a promotion in which you enrolled while at the Site and from your emails may be used to provide you the information or services you requested, to respond to any inquiry, to operate the relevant promotion and to provide you any benefits under that promotion. This usage may include reviewing transactions on your MasterCard card based on your full MasterCard account number, which number we may obtain from your issuing bank pursuant to the terms of a promotion.

We also may use the information we collect to enhance your experience while using our Site or viewing our emails, to improve the Site, to analyse the performance of any promotions or to improve the quality or variety of the products, services and promotions we offer.

We may use the information you provide to us to contact you regarding other promotions, offers, information and items that may interest you.

How We Share Information We Collect

We do not share information about you gathered through your interaction with the Site, except as described here. We may share your information with service providers we have retained to perform services on our behalf, including web hosting service providers, email service providers, advertising agencies and fulfillment houses. In those situations, the service provider is performing work for us, and we take the appropriate steps to ensure your information is used only to provide the services specified, and that it is maintained in a confidential manner.

We may share your information if we have your consent to share the information or if we need to share your information to provide the service or information that you have requested. Any information you provide in a user generated content context, such as priceless picks, may be publicly disclosed and shared accordingly.

If you are using the mapping tool within Priceless Picks, that service is provided by third parties. Their collection and use of any data through your interaction with their mapping tool is goverened by their privacy policy and terms of use, which we suggest you read.

To operate a promotion in which you have enrolled we may provide your personal information to the financial institution that issued your MasterCard(s) card that is enrolled in the promotion. Please see their privacy policy and your agreement with them as to how they handle your information. Additionally, we may provide these financial institutions, as well as merchants who accept MasterCard cards, aggregated information about the performance of a promotion to demonstrate program performance and utility, as well as to improve promotion performance.

In addition, we may disclose personal information about you to others (i) if we are required to do so by law, (ii) in response to legal process, (iii) to law enforcement or regulatory authorities or other government officials if required to do so, or (iv) when we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual fraud or illegal activity.

We reserve the right to transfer any information we have about you in the event we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets. Should such a sale or transfer occur, we will use reasonable efforts to try to ensure that the transferee uses personal information you have provided through this Site in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Notice.

Security

MasterCard is committed to using industry practices to maintain the security of information collected on our Site. To try to prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place technical, physical and administrative methods to safeguard the information we collect in regards to the Program. We store personal information on a secured server behind a firewall that is not directly connected to the Internet.

Unfortunately, no collection or data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Thus, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any data transmission. Therefore, you agree that you transmit your information at your own risk.

You should maintain the confidentiality of your user name and password. We use secure socket layer (SSL) or secure HTTP (HTTPS) technology to protect your user name and password when you enter that information. We will never ask you for your password in any unsolicited communication (including unsolicited correspondence, such as letters, phone calls or email messages). We have information retention processes to retain personal information collected through the Site for as long as it remains necessary for the purpose stated above, or otherwise to meet legal or contractual requirements. If you believe your user name and password have been compromised, please contact us per the “How to Contact Us” section below.

Your Choices

You can "opt-out" of receiving marketing email or SMS messages from us by following the opt-out instructions in our emails and SMS messages. To ensure that your opt-out request is honored, you must use the method designated in the emails or SMS message to notify us of your opt-out request, since we cannot guarantee that other methods of notification will be effective. You can also opt-out from receiving further marketing communications from MasterCard by emailing this request to privacy_europe@mastercard.com. Please note that even if you chose to opt-out of MasterCard's marketing communications, we may continue to send you important service related communications regarding any promotions in which you enrolled.

You can also request the correction or deletion of personal data you have provided to us by emailing privacy_europe@mastercard.com. Information regarding your past activity may remain in our archived records after your personal data has been deleted, as well as in the data stream that we have in the course of our processing transactions of your MasterCard card.

You have choices with respect to the information we collect passively as discussed above in the Information We Collect section. You can opt out of MasterCard's use of cookies to monitor your use of this site on an individual machine basis by clicking here to receive an opt-out cookie. Please note, if you remove the opt out cookie from your computer, it will no longer be effective.

Updates to this Privacy Notice

By using this Site you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Notice. This Privacy Notice may change from time to time.
