In addition to these critical benefits, MasterCard Site Data Protection can also reinforce cardholder confidence and reduce the potential threat to the overall payment structure.

If a merchant does not meet the applicable MasterCard Site Data Protection requirements, MasterCard may levy a non-compliance assessment on the responsible MasterCard member.

MasterCard Site Data Protection is intended to protect all participants in MasterCard-branded activities from risk associated with theft and misuse of account data.
