2011 is an important year for MasterCard. With the service platform established with banks and financial institutions, we will provide yet greater convenience to cardholders and consumers to let them experience the advantages of MasterCard.
On 6 January 2011, MasterCard Worldwide obtained the naming rights to the 2008 Olympics basketball venue, Wukesong Arena. The arena, now renamed MasterCard Center, was unveiled on 21 January in the presence of esteemed guests, media and business partners. Its mission is to present MasterCard cardholders with the most unique and unforgettable experiences including free tickets to performances and events, lucky draws and backstage passes to meet the artists, among many other priceless privileges. Furthermore, consumers, cardholders and business partners are promised exclusive experiences in the Center's VIP suites and lounges.
We will make MasterCard Center the stage for top performances, artists' world tours, sports events, conferences and exhibitions. We also expect the Center to become a favorite venue for our business partners' activities. In the next five years, we see the Center hosting at least 200 events and activities. To MasterCard, the Center gives us the opportunity to offer more direct, convenient and efficient services to Beijing citizens and visitors to the city. MasterCard will do its best to turn the former Olympic Games arena into a major asset for the community, as part of a humble effort to contribute to the development of the local economy.
In addition, MasterCard will work with local merchants to provide inbound MasterCard travelers with more exquisite choices in dining, shopping, leisure and entertainment. Our hope is to turn Beijing into a world-famous MasterCard "Priceless City".
