In Brazil, some estimates put youth unemployment at almost 18%. With limited access to quality education, many young Brazilians are left susceptible to high rates of crime and violence. MasterCard believes in the power of entrepreneurship as a path to full financial inclusion for young people. To give youth in Brazil opportunities to help shape their own future, MasterCard partnered with Trust for the Americas to expand its hemispherical POETA Youth program in Brazil. MasterCard's support will launch youth centers in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to deliver entrepreneurism education, technology and job-readiness training to at-risk youth, as they work to overcome complex issues such as crime, violence and poverty.
The Trust for the Americas, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Organization of American States (OAS), focuses on improving access to economic opportunities for vulnerable communities in Latin America.
