In the neighborhood of Milpa Alta in Mexico City, many women face a constant uphill struggle to break the cycle of poverty. With an abundance of gender inequality, women frequently lack easy and convenient access to vital financial, health, and human services such micro loans, financial literacy training and health screenings. Services like these help empower women to gain the financial independence, knowledge and self-esteem they need to improve their lives and those of their families. Recognizing this need, MasterCard has partnered with Pro Mujer to open a new neighborhood center in Milpa Alta that will help women build livelihoods through financial services, business and empowerment training, and healthcare support. This center will provide approximately 400 women with a holistic package of services and impact the lives of 1,600 children and family members, giving many people access to a brighter future. MasterCard looks forward to seeing the women of the Milpa Alta community thrive.
