MasterCard PayPass is the industry’s leading contactless payment system. That means that customers never have to swipe their PayPass-enabled payment devices. A simple tap of a card or alternative PayPass form factor is all it takes for your customers to pay at checkout and be on their way.

What is PayPass?

MasterCard PayPass is a contactless payment technology. Instead of swiping or dipping the card in a reader, the customer waves or taps it on a terminal. An embedded computer chip and radio frequency antenna in the card securely transmit the payment information to the reader. The transaction is then processed as a normal transaction.

MasterCard cards featuring PayPass also have the traditional magnetic stripe so the card can continue to be used for swipe transactions.
