MasterCard Canada Commends
the Financial Literacy Task Force

TORONTO, February 9, 2011 – MasterCard Canada applauds the Financial Literacy Task Force and the Minister of Finance for the report and recommendations announced today to improve Canadians’ financial knowledge.

Financial literacy is critical to the financial well-being of Canadians, the effective functioning of the payments system, and the stability of the economy as a whole. MasterCard supports financial literacy through a number of consumer education programs aimed at helping Canadians save well and spend wisely including the recent launch of Priceless Pointers on mastercard.ca.

MasterCard is reviewing the Task Force’s report and its recommendations and looks forward to working with the government and other stakeholders to improve the financial literacy of Canadians.
