MasterCard Canada to Give Away 13 Trips for Two to the Stanley Cup™ Final
One trip for each province and territory ensures Canada is represented

Toronto, March 1, 2007 – With the run to the playoffs in full swing, MasterCard Canada today announced the start of Canada Goes to the Cup™, a national promotion for MasterCard cardholders. Every time a cardholder uses their MasterCard between March 1 and April 30, 2007, they are automatically entered to win one of 13 trips for two to a 2007 Stanley Cup™ Final game — one trip for each province and territory in Canada.
“Regardless of whether the games are played north or south of the border, two lucky hockey fans from every province and territory will be representing Canada at the 2007 Stanley Cup™ Final,” said Tammy Scott, Vice President, Brand Marketing, MasterCard Canada. “At MasterCard, we take hockey very seriously, and this year we’re making sure at least 26 Canadians go to the Cup.”
Each of the 13 Canada Goes to the Cup grand prizes includes:
- Two tickets to one game of the 2007 Stanley Cup™ Final
- Autographed Bobby Orr jersey
- Round-trip air fare and accommodations
- $500USD spending money on a prepaid MasterCard card

The Canada Goes to the Cup contest is open to MasterCard cardholders who are legal residents of Canada and over the age of majority in their Province or Territory or residence. One entry will be given for each MasterCard card purchase made between March 1, 2007 and April 30, 2007. Bonus entries will be given when you use a MasterCard card at the following retailers: Cineplex Entertainment LP, WestJet and participating Shell Canada service stations. The Canada Goes to the Cup sweepstakes is being supported by national television, produced by McCann Erickson of New York, and radio and print advertising, with creative done by Toronto based MacLaren McCann. All French adaptation and media buying was handled by Marketel. Promotional development and online creative was done by Armstrong Partnership LP of Toronto. Public relations activities are being executed by Environics Communications, also of Toronto.
