Code of Conduct for the Credit and Debit Card Industry in Canada

The Minister of Finance announced on May 18, 2010 that all major payment card networks, issuers and acquirers had agreed to the voluntary Code of Conduct for the Credit and Debit Card Industry in Canada.

As part of MasterCard’s role in ensuring the Canadian payments system continues to be an important source of credit for Canadian consumers, and in providing secure, innovative and reliable payment processing for merchants, MasterCard is providing participants in the payments system, including merchants and cardholders, the opportunity to submit inquiries they may have about particular elements of the Code.

If you are a merchant or prospective merchant and your question is related to your contract or statement with your acquirer or payment processor, we ask that you first contact the acquirer or processor. Please refer to your statement for contact information.

If you are a cardholder or prospective cardholder with an inquiry, we invite you to first contact the financial institution listed on the back of your credit or debit card.

If after contacting your acquirer, processor or financial institution, you feel your inquiry has not been resolved to your satisfaction, we invite you to fill out a Code of Conduct inquiries form by clicking the link below.
