MasterCard Domestic Purchase Transactions
Interchange Fees for Australia
In accordance with paragraph 20 of the Reserve Bank of Australia's Standard No.1 - The Setting of Wholesale ("Interchange") Fees (the "Standard") made under the Payments Systems (Regulation) Act 1998, MasterCard Worldwide hereby advises that, with effect on 26 June 2007, the following interchange fees will apply to MasterCard purchase transactions in Australia where the card issuer and merchant acquirer are both Australian members:

The qualifying criteria for the interchange fees set out above are as per the following:
| Interchange Category | Description |
| Charities | Available to all charitable organizations as recognized by the Australian Taxation Office. |
| Tiered Merchants | Available to Merchants processing in excess of 20 million MasterCard transactions per annum. The credit rate will be available only to those merchants that accept all MasterCard card programs including credit, debit and prepaid, whereas the debit rate shall apply to all merchant groups processing the requisite number of MasterCard branded transactions. |
| Governments and Utilities | Available to the following MCCs: 9211, 9222, 9223, 9311, 9399, 9402, 9405, 4812, 4813, 4814, 4816, 4821, 4899, 4900 |
| Petroleum | Available to the following MCCs: 5541, 5542 |
| Recurring Payments | Available for transactions containing the Recurring Payment indicator other than transactions qualifying for Charities, Tiered Merchants or Government & Utilities. |
| QPS (registration required) | Available for transactions containing the QPS indicator other than transactions qualifying for Charities, Tiered Merchants or Government & Utilities. |
| EMV Premium (EMV card, non-EMV terminal) | Available for all cards above Gold containing an EMV compliant chip, other than for Charities, Tiered Merchants, Government & Utilities, Recurring Payments and QPS. |
| EMV Commercial (EMV card, non-EMV terminal) | Available for all commercial payment cards containing an EMV compliant chip, other than for Charities, Tiered Merchants, Government & Utilities, Recurring Payments and QPS. |
| EMV Consumer (EMV card, non-EMV terminal) | Available for all consumer cards Gold or below containing an EMV compliant chip, other than for Charities, Tiered Merchants, Government & Utilities, Recurring Payments and QPS. |
| Commercial | Available for all magnetic stripe only commercial payment cards, other than for Charities, Tiered Merchants, Government & Utilities, Recurring Payments and QPS. |
| Consumer Premium | Available for all cards above Gold, other than for Charities, Tiered Merchants, Government & Utilities, Recurring Payments and QPS. |
| Consumer Electronic | Available for consumer credit card transactions conducted at an electronic data capture terminal and authorised by the issuer other than other than for Charities, Tiered Merchants, Government & Utilities, Recurring Payments, QPS, EMV Premium, EMV Consumer and Consumer Premium. |
| Consumer Standard | Available to all domestic credit transactions not qualifying for any other interchange category. |
MasterCard reserves the right to, from time to time, change these fees as it sees fit. Any such changes to these fees will be published on this site as required by the Standard.
