The Veronicas Bio
Already massive pop stars in Australia, 24-year-old twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, who make up The Veronicas, have been busy winning over legions of new fans while on the road promoting their red-hot ‘Revenge Is Sweeter’ American summer headlining tour.
Their second album Hook Me Up has been hugely successful in Australia and has achieved double platinum album sales, and their singles “Untouched” and “Hook Me Up” have achieved double platinum single sales. “Untouched” also became their first ever platinum record in the U.S., having sold more than 1.4 million singles. The track exploded across the American airwaves and resulted in The Veronicas being voted ‘Best New Act of 2008’ by New York’s trend-setting pop station Z100. From that point, it was only a matter of time before The Veronicas were rocketing up the charts and selling-out performances all across the United States.
The Veronicas comment on their rise to stardom and evolving music style:
“It’s been more than two years since we wrote the first record, so our musical tastes have changed a bit,” Lisa says. “We’ve been living in Los Angeles where we got into the whole electro-pop rock scene. When it came time to write the album, we were really inspired to go in a new direction.”
“We didn’t want to make a record that was the same as the first,” Jessica adds. “We definitely wanted to create a different sound for ourselves and reinvent The Veronicas. A lot has changed in our lives over the past two years. And we’ve changed quite a bit personally, so we had a lot to say.”
