Pendulum Bio
Formed in 2002 by three musicians from Western Australia, Pendulum’s mission has always been simple –
to create a new sound that they felt was missing from the dance music scene. Original members Rob Swire (vocals & keyboardist) and Gareth
McGrillen (bass) had been active in the local Perth music scene for years. They then teamed with well-known DJ Paul ‘Elhornet’ Harding to
form the outfit we now know as Pendulum.
It wasn’t long before the trio was making their mark, with the launch of their first single ‘Vault’. As one of the biggest anthems of
2003, Pendulum was gaining major exposure picking up ‘Single of the Year’ from the highly respected Knowledge Magazine. Their acclaimed
debut album ‘Hold Your Colour’ (2005) solidified the band as one of the most innovative and talented Australian dance acts and saw the band
decamp to the UK to start the next chapter of the Pendulum story. The band made a major impact on their new home, smashing their way into
the UK’s National Dance Chart, debuting at #1 with their new single ‘Another Planet’.
Now well established in the UK, Pendulum took their unique music style and show to a whole new level with the inclusion of guitarist
Perry ap Gwynedd, drummer Kodish and MC Verse, for the ultimate live experience.
With the success of singles ‘Granite’ & ‘Propane Nightmares’ from second album ‘In Silico’, Pendulum has established themselves as an
international music phenomenon, blowing crowds away at festivals including Glastonbury, Isle of White and our own Big Day Out – not to
mention a string off sell-out tours across Europe, the U.S and Australia.
In 2010, the Pendulum juggernaut continues to swing on. The May launch of new album ‘Immersion’ marks the beginning of a world tour, and
it all kicks off in Oz! Pendulum is set to further stamp their mark on the world music stage.
