Junior Golfer Set to Take on the Professionals

Queensland’s Keven Lee has won junior golf’s most coveted title, the MasterCard Junior golf tournament, held at The Vines Resort and Country Club, Perth, this week. The rising star of golf triumphed over a highly competitive field of 99 outstanding junior golfers to win opportunity to compete against the world’s best in a professional tournament later this year. Kevin has won a place to compete in the MasterCard Masters golf tournament, taking place at Victoria’s Huntingdale Golf Course in November.
Kevin demonstrated technical excellence and maturity beyond his years to defeat some of the best golfers from around Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines and South Africa.
Kevin narrowly took out the title of the 2006 MasterCard Junior Masters by one shot over Korean Danny An and fellow Queenslander Daniel Nisbet in a nail biting finish. All three boys were tied on five under down the 72nd final tournament hole. Kevin played a safe shot into the green while Danny ended up just off the green and Daniel in a bunker just off the front of the green.

The MasterCard Junior Masters golf tournament returned to the Vines Resort, Perth for its third successful year. This year’s tournament took place from 15 – 21 May.
